It’s mid-Summer and time sure flies when you’re enjoying time with your family, friends and running your business. Back-To-School is in full swing and we have a 2-Part series to help you create your best showcases. Through our tools, you have the ability to give your web visitors the product comparison experience they are looking for. Based on your sites subject matter, you’ll want to provide an unlimited variety of relevant products for your audience to browse. We have two features available on our product showcase tool, Curate for PopShops, that can help you accomplish this – 1. Dynamic Gallery & 2. Auto Fill. Let’s discuss best practices for using the Dynamic Gallery feature to create an unlimited product showcase.

I really love many genres of music including R&B Soul, Hip-Hop, Grunge, Alternative & Rock. And, like vinyl lovers, I have a love for buying the physical CD of artists that I enjoy. I want to read the liner notes and hold the visual art in my hands. I know there’s others out there who agree, so let’s build a showcase that features CDs for music lovers with a wide variety of tastes.

1. Manage Advertiser Catalog

Before building your showcase, be sure you’ve created direct relationships with targeted brands. Then you’ll need to Manage your advertiser Catalog so their products will be viewable in your showcase. Check out our last newsletter, ‘Grow Your Advertiser Portfolio & Increase your Earning Potential’ if you need tips on how to increase your advertiser partnerships.

2. Build Gallery

Since we’re creating a showcase with mixed music genres, let’s do a keyword search. This will pull relevant products from ALL Advertisers in your catalog. Let’s search for RB Soul, Rock, Alternative & Music CD. NOTE: Leave punctuation out to improve results.

We have several advertisers that match & return results. Make note of 3 or more advertisers that yield results. This is a best practice to ensure your showcase has a wide variety of products for your visitors to browse. Let’s select a variety of CDs from each genre, at least 3 different Advertisers & build a 4 Row x 4 Column Static Gallery. We can name it ‘For Music CD Lovers RBSoulRockAlt.’

DEFINITION: Static (Handpicked) Gallery - A collection of products you put together. Any products you save will go into a new gallery or into an existing gallery you specify.

If you want to be sure that a specific Advertiser is represented in your product mix, you can select the Advertiser Name from the Advertiser menu on the left. Select the products you wish, then De-Select the advertiser to return to the original search results that included ALL relevant advertisers.

View your selected products in the Gallery section to ensure you have 16 selected for this example.

3. Create Dynamic Gallery

Now you have 16 music CDs from 3 or more Advertisers that will be viewed through your showcase. But you want more than just these specific CDs to show. If you want your audience to see CDs that are similar to the ones you've selected, that match your keyword search, you’ll need to make your gallery Dynamic. Once it’s Dynamic, you won’t have to worry about products going away because they are dynamically updated.

DEFINITION: Dynamic Gallery - A gallery of products where you choose what search filters to use and you simply can save and publish ALL products returned by that filter.

Press the Save as Dynamic Gallery button, enter the name and Press the Checkmark. Let’s name it ‘For Music CD Lovers RBSoulRockAlt Dynamic.’

Once you set your multiple advertiser gallery as Dynamic, you’ll have an unlimited number of products for your visitors to browse. You can tell your gallery is Dynamic by the circular red arrows.

Design the Gallery & Publish your Showcase

Your last steps include designing your gallery for your site style & placing the showcase code on your web property.

Under Configuration, we’ll adjust our columns & rows to 4 x 4. Then we’ll set the Product Name, Brand, Advertiser, Price & Sale Price to Always On. I’ve also Enabled Search and Action Button so visitors can search for products and easily make a purchase when they view something they like. Finally, I’ve added a Showcase Title in the Showcase Additional Text field to highlight what products will be in the showcase. I’ll leave all default settings for Style.

And finally, I’ll grab the code to be placed on my website.

And we're done!
